This method limits internal cutting, leaves the pectoral muscle attached to the chest wall, and protects more of the breast's native tissue. Avoiding chest-muscle release can reduce the pressure and muscle spasm associated with submuscular breast augmentation. The technique may not fit patients with severe sagging, very thin tissue, low nipple position, complex asymmetry, or large implant goals. Preservé is a surgical technique, not a breast implant. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved Motiva SmoothSilk Round and SmoothSilk Round Ergonomix silicone gel-filled breast implants for primary breast augmentation and revision augmentation in women age 22 and older. FDA approval applies to those implants and does not constitute approval of every claim about the Preservé technique.
